" The presentation a tribute to Tina Turner created and performed by Tina Turner Tribute Show Canada at L'Espace St-Denis, produced smiles to tears for me tonight. Having seen Tina Turner 9 times live in concert I swore I'd never see a tribute show. However, the artist approached me through FaceBook and let me know about her pending performance and enticed me to attend her show. I've never seen any other performer interpret any of Tina's version of songs live including none of the many drag performers who make the attempt. I decided to support a local talent and take the risk. Not having any high expectations going in I was open to whatever I'd be presented with. Well to my utter surprise I loved it from the first number to the next and the next and all the way through to the act two's performance. Along with a six piece band and a back up vocalist and two dancers [she] throws everything she's got into presenting a slick energetic production from start to finish. Totally and plesantly surprised I am so glad I took the risk and it paid off. Yes indeed I did actually brake down in tears at the end of the song You're Simply the Best when the image of Tina and the album cover of the Private Dancer album was projected on the screen. Why? Tina's music marks many episodes in my life...the Ups and the many downs. I first recall hearing on the radio in my kitchen in my home in Laval in 1983 Let's Stay Together and I was hooked as a fan. Soon followed by Whats Love Got To Do With It and I quickly became an Uber fan. I had heard her music before of course but these new songs that were released on the Private Dancer album and the subsequent albums that she released throughout the decades were all comfort and home for me and remain such to this day. My first Tina live experience was at the Forum in the summer of 1984. I saw her as often as I could afford over the years including flying to Paris all alone to see her perform with a audience of 75,000 at The Champs des Swiss at the Palais Versailles in 1990 when she released her European Tour album. Also saw her at the Bell Center a couple of times before she retired from touring. Of course I read her book I Tina, and saw the film a few times, have seen Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome many times as well. Most recently got to see TINA the Musical at PdA. Her music has followed me through many relationships and marks many milestones in my journey and I will forever have a strong connection with her. Thanks to my friend Liz MacRae for steping up and accepting to attend with me as Ricky couldn't for obvious reasons. Will I ever attend another Tina tribute performances? Probably not but my hope is that Johanne will produce another show that I can attend with Ricky. Felicitations et Gros Merde! "
