Baroque Dance Performers
Baroque Dance, the fashionable dance of Europe from around 1650 to 1750, is sometimes considered the precursor to classical ballet. It began at the court of Louis XIV and became known as the French noble style, a highly stylized form of baroque dance. This elegant and graceful form of dance quickly spread throughout Europe.
Not content solely with baroque dance, the founder of the company, Barbara, has expanded studies and repertoire to include known choreographies in European sources from the fifteenth to the nineteenth centuries. These range from the court dances of Italian Renaissance dance masters such as Domenico, Caroso, and Negri to Regency dances, including those from Jane Austen's time, and Victorian dances.
Barbara and her performers bring Baroque and Chalemie dance to life with costumes, music, and performances that range from concert presentations to theatrical explorations of early dance and eighteenth-century pantomime.
The Baroque Dance Performers have extensive knowledge in a range of dances, including Baroque, Renaissance, Chalemie, Regency, and Victorian. They are available to conduct classes, lectures, and provide a variety of entertainment shows, including lively and educational children's shows, outdoor events at heritage sites, festivals, corporate entertainment, weddings, and themed parties.
