Baroque Dance Performers
Baroque Dance, the popular European dance from around 1650 to 1750, is often seen as the predecessor of classical ballet. Originating in the court of Louis XIV, it became known as the French noble style, a highly stylized form of Baroque dance. This elegant and graceful dance quickly spread across Europe.
Not satisfied with focusing solely on Baroque dance, the company's founder Barbara has expanded her studies and repertoire to include known choreographies from European sources dating from the fifteenth to the nineteenth centuries. These span from the court dances of Italian Renaissance masters like Domenico, Caroso, and Negri to Regency dances, including those from Jane Austen's era, and Victorian dances.
Barbara and her performers bring Baroque and Chalemie dance to life through authentic costumes, music, and performances that range from concert presentations to explorations of the theatrical aspects of early dance and eighteenth-century pantomime.
The Baroque Dance Performers possess extensive expertise in various dance styles, including Baroque, Renaissance, Chalemie, Regency, and Victorian. They are available to offer classes, lectures, and a variety of entertainment shows, including lively and educational children’s shows, outdoor events at heritage sites, festivals, corporate entertainment, weddings, and themed parties.
