Boleadoras Act
Boleadoras dancer Sarah is an international performer and circus artist-choreographer specializing in Argentinian Boleadoras dance and bombo drum performance. She brings over 20 years of experience, having performed in Canada, United States, South America, Europe, and Australia.
The only woman in the world to professionally specialize in Boleadoras, Sarah's performance will bring an intense and fierce element to your event. Traditionally performed in Argentina atop percussion rhythms, Sarah's act uniquely blends manipulation, flexibility, acrobatics, circus, and dance movements.
Boleadoras is a dynamic dance where two small plastic balls attached to strings are swung in various combinations through the air, simultaneously beating a rhythm on the floor. Truly unique and exhilarating.
In Argentina, Boleadoras were originally used to catch cattle. Later, they integrated into the folk dance of the Gauchos as a percussion instrument, alongside feet and drums, creating a powerful visual and auditory impact.
Sarah studied at the National Ballet School of Canada and honed her Boleadoras skills with Cirque du Soleil for 10 years. She then traveled to Argentina to train with top choreographers and teachers in malambo, Boleadoras, bombo (Argentinian drum), and zapateo (foot percussion).
Her impressive repertoire includes professional performances for Cirque Du Soleil, a special show for Celine Dion at the Casino of Montreal, and numerous appearances at festivals, theaters, and corporate events. Sarah can perform her Boleadoras act in various costumes, accompanied by a bombo drum player, making her perfect for themed events.
Top Tip:
For added impact, Sarah can perform with fire poi, fire levitation stick, and fire fans!
