Boleadoras Act
Boleadoras dancer Sarah is an international dancer and circus artist-choreographer specializing in Argentinian Boleadoras dance and bombo drum performance. She has thousands of professional shows of experience accumulated over 20 years of performing, having danced her way across Canada, the United States, South America, Europe, and Australia.
The only woman in the world to specialize professionally in Boleadoras, our dancer's performance is guaranteed to add an intense and fierce touch to your event. Traditionally danced in Argentina on top of percussion rhythms, Sarah's act blends a mix of manipulation, flexibility, acrobatics, circus and dance movements into the genre like no other.
Boleadoras is a dance where two small plastic balls, attached to strings, are swung in different combinations through the air while beating a rhythm on the floor at the same time. Unique and thrilling.
In Argentina, Boleadoras were traditionally used with a throwing technique to catch cattle. Later, they also appeared in the folk dance of the Gauchos as a percussion instrument along with the feet and the drums. Simultaneously, they create a strong visual image that amplifies the energy of the dance.
Having studied at the National Ballet School of Canada, Sarah learned Boleadoras with Cirque du Soleil where she trained for 10 years. She then traveled to Argentina to improve her skills with the top Boleadoras choreographers and teachers in malambo, Boleadoras, bombo (Argentinian drum), and zapateo (feet percussion).
Her past experiences include professional dance performances for Cirque Du Soleil, a special performance for Celine Dion in the Casino of Montreal, and various shows across festivals, theaters, and corporate events. Sarah can perform her Boleadoras act in a range of costumes, accompanied by a bombo drum player, and is ideal for themed events.
Pro Tip:
For even more impact, Sarah can perform her act with fire poi, fire levitation stick, and fire fans!
