Haka Workshops
Are you in search of an exciting and dynamic way to unify your team? Haka workshops offer creative team events that are engaging, fun, and energetic, encouraging team members to come out of their shells and collaborate as a cohesive unit.
The Haka is the traditional war dance of the Māori people. Originally performed by warriors before battle to intimidate their opponents, it is also used in Māori culture to welcome distinguished guests and acknowledge significant achievements or special occasions. There are several types of Haka, some of which are performed predominantly by women.
Following a spine-tingling performance by a group of respected professionals, your team will be divided into groups and given the opportunity to learn all the traditional Haka moves: facial expressions, foot stomping, body slapping, chanting, and your fiercest war cry!
After each group has trained with the experts and feels prepared, they'll perform their Haka and see who stands strong.
Led by an experienced Haka performer descended from the New Zealand tribe Ngati Toa Rangatira, the tribe that owns the famous Haka 'Ka Mate' performed by the All Blacks, this workshop is truly authentic. This particular Haka is performed by both men and women and is used to foster cohesiveness (kotahitanga) within tribes to achieve focus and unity for a common purpose - the perfect ethos for your team-building event.
Highly energetic, the Haka is an excellent way for participants to release energy, try something new with their colleagues, and come together to create a unified dance performance. Key messages can be incorporated into the workshops to ensure they align with your brand values.
'Ko to tatou whakaaro kotahi, to tatou mea nui'
'It is our oneness of thought that is our greatest gift'
