Japanese Contemporary Dance
This exceptional performing artist is the sole creator and performer of a unique style of Japanese contemporary dance. Combining elements of traditional Japanese dance, modern Japanese dance, chakra vocals, live Japanese calligraphy art, and acting, she crafts an intense and expressive theatrical show that has captivated audiences worldwide.
Every intricately choreographed dance tells its own distinct story and is performed to a soundtrack featuring Japanese Taiko, Japanese folk music known as Minyo, Shakuhachi (the bamboo flute), and Shamisen (the Japanese banjo). The soundtrack, composed by Cirque du Soleil artist Pierre Dubé, the mind behind Mystere, offers a captivating auditory experience that is as enchanting to listen to as it is to watch.
From high-energy, impactful performances that incorporate dramatic Japanese-inspired dance with theatrical props, to more melodic, slower-paced shows, our Japanese dancer can customize her performance to suit the tone of any event. Whether you need a dynamic act that will immediately grab attention as an after-dinner show or at a large-scale event, or something more understated to entertain at a drinks reception or gallery show, she can adapt her performance accordingly.
During her contemporary Japanese dance shows, our artist dons various traditional Japanese garments, including a Kimono and Japanese Geta Sandals, as well as props such as a Sensu (fan), Kasa (umbrella), and Katana (sword). Creating a dramatic presence on stage, she further enhances this visual aesthetic with Japanese calligraphy paintings using Japanese Kanji based on the four elements: Earth, Water, Wind, and Fire.
She has showcased her unique Japanese-inspired dance at various events around the globe including: Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles, Southern California Nisei Week Festival, SoCal Cherry Blossom Festival, San Diego Japan Day, as well as events in Lithuania and India.
