Michael Johnson
As a dual event world champion, Michael Johnson is regarded as the best sprinter in history for the 200 and 400 meters. At the peak of his career, Johnson dominated the global track and field scene, winning 19 international gold medals. He set numerous records and achieved many firsts, including being the first man ranked number one in the world for both 200 meters and 400 meters, the first to win gold in both events at an Olympic Games, and the first to win consecutive Olympic gold medals in the 400m. By the time he retired in 2000, he had secured four Olympic golds and nine World Championship gold medals.
Michael attributes his success to a consistent philosophy he maintained over his 11-year career, which he now shares with global audiences through his keynote speeches. He worked on the principle that success in any field begins with setting a goal. For Michael, the goal wasn't simply to be the fastest man, but to become the best athlete he could be. With this aim, he planned realistic steps, analyzed his strengths and weaknesses, motivated himself to train, and made the necessary sacrifices to become a top athlete.
Following his retirement from athletics, Johnson applies this philosophy to his various business ventures, including a sports training company that offers consultation and training for professional athletes. He also established Michael Johnson Young Leaders, a program that provides young people worldwide who have faced adversity with the tools to create a better future for themselves and their communities.
As a highly sought-after keynote speaker, Michael has collaborated with numerous global companies such as Microsoft, Sony, UBS, and Bank of Scotland to share his techniques and demonstrate their relevance to the corporate world. A natural presenter, he has also appeared as a television commentator and personality, working with BBC Sport and other channels.
