Aled Jones
Aled Jones has enjoyed a remarkable career spanning over three decades. He is the original crossover star, having sung for the Pope and the Royal Family. He has received an MBE, released over 30 albums with over 10 million album sales, and holds over 40 Silver, Gold, and Platinum Discs.
From Child Star to National Treasure
Starting his career at the age of 12, Aled Jones became one of the world’s most successful boy sopranos, releasing 12 hit albums in just 4 years. His defining moment came with 'Walking in the Air,' the hit song from the animated film The Snowman.
As a broadcaster, Aled has built an extensive career, working for BBC Radio 2 and 3, and BBC Radio Wales. He also hosts the Classic FM Sunday Breakfast Show and has become a popular figure on the station, enjoying his own magazine show, ITV Weekend. Alongside his radio and TV career, Aled continues to record and perform.
Chart-Topping Artist with Critical Acclaim
One Voice reached the No. 3 position on the UK Official Album Charts in 2016, outselling former One Direction member Zayn Malik in its first week and holding the No. 1 spot on the Classical Chart for 14 weeks, achieving silver BPI status. Later that year, One Voice at Christmas soared to No. 1 on the Classical Chart, selling over 60,000 units in just 4 weeks, making One Voice and One Voice At Christmas the top-selling classical albums of 2016 in the UK.
Aled’s successful trip to Australia in early 2017 saw One Voice secure a No. 1 spot. This was followed by an Australian tour later in the year where One Voice At Christmas also secured a top spot in the Australian charts.
Not content with international success, Aled concluded 2017 with One Voice: Believe, the final installment of his One Voice album trilogy, which went straight to No. 1 on the Classical Charts in the UK.
One Voice: Believe is a collection of spiritual classics where Aled duets with his younger self, but it also features some special surprises. For the first time, the Classic FM presenter was joined by his 12-year-old son Lucas for a duet on one of Aled’s favorite hymns, The Lord is My Shepherd, arranged by Howard Goodall. This heartfelt rendition brought the beautiful trilogy to a stunning conclusion.
Huge Success Down Under
Australia released One Voice: Believe in July this year, and it had a triumphant chart week, quickly climbing to No. 5 on the Overall Physical Albums Chart. It reached the Top 20 of the Overall Albums Chart before its digital release and continued to break records by staying at No. 1 on the Classical Chart for 18 weeks. Before embarking on an extensive tour in Australia in September, Aled conquered his fears by ‘walking in the air’ on the wing of a plane for Classic FM Global’s Make Some Noise charity.
In November 2018, Aled and Russell Watson released a stunning new album together, In Harmony, a beautiful collection of hymns, arias, and popular songs, which entered the UK album charts at No. 8. They will be touring together in September and October 2019.
