Since his stunning '52 impressions in 5 minutes' routine in 2009, Anil Desai has spent the last decade captivating audiences across the UK. He has opened and headlined for various promoters, clubs, and shows, including CKP, Spiky Mike, Mirth Control, The Comedy Club, Comedy Cafe, Soho Comedy Club, Chatback, Monkey Business, Laughing Horse, Spank!, Aeronaut, Covent Garden Comedy, and many more.
Anil has performed globally, becoming one of the finest impressionist comedians from the UK on the international circuit.
He has graced many of the world’s top comedy and entertainment stages like The Comedy Store, Late & Live, Late Laughs, The Udderbelly, The Spiegel Tent, The Wellington Opera House, Her Majesty’s Theatre London at the Edinburgh, Melbourne, Sydney, New Zealand, and Ireland’s International Comedy Festivals.
With his hit solo shows like ‘Stand Up Chameleon’, ‘Hey, Impressions Guy!’, the ‘Night at the Movies' trilogy, and his current show ‘Impressions of a Hindude’, Anil has become a favorite among international audiences.
Throughout his career, he has embarked on numerous international comedy tours, working with many seasoned and emerging comedians in over 20 countries, including Slovenia, South Africa, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, the Netherlands, Ibiza, Montenegro, Dubai, Lebanon, Germany, and Ireland.
Anil has also made appearances at some of the UK’s most significant summer festivals, including Latitude, Bestival, Splendour Fest, Chilli Fest, and the Electric Picnic, among others.
Desai’s distinctive feel-good, energetic stand-up comedy is inspired by his real-life stories, experiences, and observations. At times dry and occasionally sarcastic, his sets are imbued with genuine honesty and an optimistic wisdom, derived from his love of movies, film stars, everyday life, global travels, relationships, and the ever-changing world and its cultures.
His performances are filled with incredible impressions, international accents, and everyday characters, as he skillfully transforms into our favorite movie stars and celebrities with dynamic speed and lovable charm, often losing himself in the mix while delivering hilariously entertaining results, making him one of the most adaptable comics in the industry.
He won the audience vote for best comedian at the 2010 Asian Comedy Slam, recognized for going beyond just 'Indian' comedy.
