Brazilian Band Rome
This quartet brings a vibrant collection of contemporary Brazilian music by composers whose harmonics resonate with both innovative jazz and traditional Brazilian styles such as samba and choro, diverging from the classic bossa nova form.
The band takes significant inspiration from their favorite composers, such as Joao Bosco and Guinga. Bosco's dynamic fusion of Afro-American and samba sounds with the theatrical essence of Minas Gerais in the 1970s, and Guinga’s masterful blend of deeply traditional music with modern harmonics, mark them as two of the most influential contemporary composers in popular Brazilian music.
The quartet also showcases pieces by Caetano Veloso, Ivan Lins, and Chico Buarque. This results in an inviting fusion of Brazilian music and jazz, offering a repertoire with a distinctly personal touch to their songs.
The band’s debut CD, ‘Coisa Feita,’ dedicated to the music of Joao Bosco and Guinga, was released in 2013. It gained recognition on Controradio in Florence and Radio 1 in Rome during the popular show ‘Brasil’ hosted by Max De Tomassi.
