Dutch Folk Dancers
This Dutch folk dance group from Utrecht preserves the vibrant Dutch folk dance tradition. The troupe includes approximately ten male dancers, ten female dancers, and four musicians who engage and dance with the audience.
The group always performs to live music played by their own orchestra. The musicians play instruments such as the concertina, mandola, violin, and accordion.
Dances
Their repertoire features traditional dances from various parts of the Netherlands, including Terschelling, Friesland, the Achterhoek, Noord Brabant, West Friesland, and Zeeland.
In respect of tradition, they also create new dances. Their repertoire also includes dances from the early 1900s, inspired by ballroom dances that were popular across Western Europe.
The Dutch Folk Dance group customizes their program for the audience: Children’s dances for (and with) children, nostalgic dances for older adults, simple dances for audience participation, and enchanting performances on stage and at international festivals.
