Dutch Folk Dancers
This Dutch folk dance group from Utrecht keeps the rich Dutch folk dance tradition alive. The group features about ten male dancers, ten female dancers, and four musicians who interact and dance with the audience.
The group always performs to live music played by its own orchestra. The musicians play instruments like the concertina, mandola, violin, and accordion.
Dances
Their repertoire includes traditional dances from all over the Netherlands, such as Terschelling, Friesland, the Achterhoek, Noord Brabant, West Friesland, and Zeeland.
In line with tradition, they also create new dances. Their repertoire also includes some dances from the early 1900s, derived from ballroom dances that were popular across Western Europe.
The Dutch Folk Dance group always tailors their program to the audience: children’s dances for (and with) kids, nostalgic dances for older people, simple dances to join in with the audience, and dazzling performances on stage and at international festivals.
