Taiko Drummers California

This act was established in 2000 in Los Angeles, California by a group of young, emerging taiko drummers. They aimed to create a uniquely American style of taiko, blending traditional forms with an innovative and fresh aesthetic approach. In just 12 short years, they have garnered critical acclaim from around the globe and amassed an impressive resume.

The Taiko Drummers first made waves when they became the first American taiko group to win the prestigious Tokyo International Taiko Contest in 2005, outperforming all the Japanese taiko groups present. That same year, they were cast in the Mitsubishi Eclipse commercial, the first national ad campaign to prominently feature taiko. Following that, they appeared in some of America's biggest televised events, such as the Academy Awards, the Grammy Awards, NBC’s “The Voice,” the Do Something Awards with Glee’s Jane Lynch, and The X-Factor.

They have performed and recorded with some of the world’s most renowned musical artists, including Stevie Wonder, Usher & Justin Bieber, rock band 30 Seconds to Mars, Alicia Keys, A.R. Rahman, John Legend, rapper Xzibit, and Kanye West.

This versatile ensemble can perform on the world’s biggest stages and also in your venue! Besides performing arts centres and special events, they have performed for weddings, birthday parties, festivals, gala dinners, cocktail receptions, corporate meetings, and any special occasion that calls for taiko! They have coordinated performances for small events with as few as 1-2 taiko drummers and as many as 50 taiko drummers.
