Virtual Social Justice Speaker
FAQs
Please describe your Virtual Show in detail.
This dynamic and interactive online workshop is led by a dedicated advocate for social and food justice. Her commitment to equality and community connection shines through in all her work.
The session begins with a thought-provoking question about world-changers, featuring a list of notable figures and their contributions. Participants share responses in the chat, and a few may unmute to discuss. This activity underscores the workshop's main theme: small actions can have a profound impact. A guided visualization follows, where attendees imagine planting a sunflower seed, watching it grow, touching one person's life, then impacting everyone who sees it, including on social media, and extending to nature – birds, squirrels, and bees.
Our host has enacted this concept through her charity, transforming community spaces by planting sunflowers in honor of George Floyd. A PowerPoint presentation introduces her community initiatives, programs, and the social impact they have had. This includes a brief two-to-three minute video with testimonials from those touched by her projects.
As a published poet, our host will also share an original poem, using the growth of plants as a metaphor for social change.
Participants will then be asked to use their grow kits for a hands-on experience. The host will review the contents and objectives, demonstrate how to assemble and care for the seeds, and show examples of fully grown kits along with tips for consuming microgreens. The session concludes with a 10-minute Q&A session.
Can your show be customized?
Grow Kits can be mailed or supply lists provided for participants to source their materials. If kits are shipped, addresses need to be provided at least one month prior to the event.
Do you offer both pre-recorded and live-streamed shows?
Both options are available, though she prefers live workshops to foster audience engagement. A two-month preparation period is required.
Where is your show set up - do you have a professional studio setup?
Our host utilizes a professional studio setup, previously used for filming.
How many cameras do you use in your virtual show and what is the quality?
A studio technician manages the sound and camera work for the show.
What levels of interaction are there with live audiences? How does this work?
Audience members can participate during designated times using the "raise hand" feature or through the chat. For larger audiences, a moderator assists by managing the chat.
What platform do you prefer to use for your Virtual Show? What other platforms have you used?
Our host is most experienced with Zoom, but also uses Google Meets and Streamyard.
Do you have a technician that helps with the setup of your virtual show?
A technician supports the live stream recording process.
How long is your virtual show?
The live workshop lasts 90 minutes, and there is a 10-minute pre-recorded promotional video.
Do guests need anything to be able to participate?
A simple microgreens grow kit can be shipped, including a container, soil, seeds, a spray bottle, and printed instructions with tips and recipes. A bonus packet of sunflower seeds is also included to extend the experience and strengthen community connections.
Is there a minimum and a maximum number of attendees that can take part in the show?
The number of Grow Kits she can personally assemble and mail is limited. However, if a supply list is provided, the only limitation is the capacity of the chosen platform.
Are you happy to have a technical call or rehearsal session with the client in advance of the show? The technical call must be in the show location with the same connection.
Yes, she is willing to do this with a month’s notice.
