Bharatanatyam Dancer
Priya is a globally acclaimed master of Bharatanatyam, celebrated for her commitment to the classical traditional Indian dance repertoire.
Starting her dance journey at the age of seven, she has accumulated extensive experience over the past 20 years, with twelve of her early career years spent in the United States, where she taught and collaborated with international artists.
Priya's talents also span into theatre, where she has appeared in a nationally televised series and choreographed for a play by Terrance McNally at the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre.
Due to her remarkable skills and experience, Priya has had the honor to perform at some of the most prestigious venues around the world. She performed during US President Barrack Obama's official visit to India in 2010, for the Royal couple in Bhutan in 2011, at the Black Arts Festival in Senegal, the International Festival of Bangkok in 2010, the Jeonjhu Sori International Festival in South Korea, the Festival of India in Bogota, Colombia, and has extensively toured North America, the West Indies, Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, Europe, and Africa.
In recognition of her contributions to promoting the art form in the United States, she was awarded a fellowship by the Illinois Arts Council in 1995 and again in 2002.
Now based in New Delhi, Priya is available for performances and workshops in the traditional art form at a variety of events, including corporate functions, private parties, festivals, and more.
