Bharatanatyam Dancer
Priya is a world-renowned expert in Bharatanatyam, celebrated for her commitment to the classical Indian dance repertoire.
Starting her dance journey at just seven years old, she has amassed over 20 years of extensive experience, including twelve years in the United States teaching and collaborating with international artists.
Priya has also ventured into theater performance, appearing in a nationally televised series and choreographing for a play by Terrance McNally at the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre.
With her amazing skills and experience, Priya has had the chance to perform at some of the most prestigious venues worldwide. She performed during US President Barrack Obama's official visit to India in 2010, for the Royal couple in Bhutan in 2011, at the Black Arts Festival in Senegal, the International Festival of Bangkok in 2010, the Jeonjhu Sori International Festival in South Korea, the Festival of India in Bogota, Colombia, and has toured extensively in North America, the West Indies, Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, Europe, and Africa.
In recognition of her efforts to promote the art form in the United States, the Illinois Arts Council awarded her a fellowship in 1995 and again in 2002.
Now residing in New Delhi, Priya is available to perform and teach this traditional art form at a wide variety of events, including corporate functions, private parties, festivals, and more.
