Capoeira Dancers
Capoeira Dancers are an internationally acclaimed Capoeira group based in Rio, led by Mestre Celso, a student of the legendary Artur Emidio and the oldest Capoeira teacher in Rio. The group in Surrey is managed by his son, Professor Bicudo, who also hails from Brazil.
Capoeira is a 500-year-old African martial art developed by slaves in Brazil. It has gained popularity through video games like Tekken and movies such as Warrior King. Celebrities such as Charlize Theron and Wesley Snipes practice Capoeira. Join us to experience the social, spiritual, and cultural phenomenon that is Capoeira!
This group consists of 6 performers, including dancers, musicians, singers, and those who clap along with the performance. For a group of 6 performers, the performance length ranges from 10 to 25 minutes. Capoeira Dancers are also available for workshops and lessons in schools.
Capoeira is a blend of fitness, acrobatics, self-defense, dance, and music. It has recently been featured in films like 'Harry Potter', 'Blade', 'Ocean’s 12', 'Mission Impossible 2', 'Cat Woman', MTV Popmusic Videos, and even PlayStation games. This exposure has allowed Capoeira to captivate a wide range of students, including those previously uninterested in physical education.
