Renowned Shakuhachi Music Grand Master

The New York bamboo flute player is among the very few non-Japanese individuals to earn the esteemed Dai-Shi-Han (Grand Master) certificate. Initially starting as a classical flute player with a master's degree in Western flute and musicology from Queens College, he traveled to Japan to learn the Japanese bamboo flute from grand masters and became one himself. He is now one of only about 100 shakuhachi music professionals globally.
