Only Boys Aloud
Since its inception eight years ago by Tim Rhys-Evans, the inspirational music director behind the renowned male choir Only Men Aloud, Only Boys Aloud has provided unique opportunities to hundreds of boys across South Wales to perform on various platforms throughout the UK, along with numerous TV appearances and recordings. With 10 choirs covering all of South Wales and an additional four choirs launched last year in North Wales, this phenomenon has garnered global attention.
All-boys choir's Britain's Got Talent success and high achievements
The boys' Britain's Got Talent audition clip has amassed well over 26 million views on YouTube, with messages posted almost daily on their website from around the world. Originating from a one-off concert in 2010, Only Boys Aloud has continued to thrive, securing an impressive third place in Britain's Got Talent in 2012, performing at Buckingham Palace in 2013 to celebrate the anniversary of the coronation, singing in the X Factor final, and much more including appearances on numerous national UK TV shows.
Only Boys Aloud's charitable foundation working for the community
Inclusivity is central to the program. There are no fees to participate and no auditions. Any boy aged 13-19 who commits to attending regular rehearsals at their local venue is welcomed, regardless of background or ability. The program aims to make a meaningful difference to the young men of Wales, helping to raise aspiration levels, self-esteem, and confidence. OBA is one of the main initiatives managed by The ALOUD Charity, formed in 2012 to ensure the future of this extraordinary, life-changing project.
