French Chanson Acoustic Duet
French Chanson Acoustic Duet have a set comprised of songs only in the French language, borrowing some jazz intonation at times. They travel through the vintage era of Edith Piaf but also the modern vibes of Vanessa Paradis and other pleasant and popular artists.
The collaboration of Bournemouth born guitarist, Paul and French born singer, France, provide beautifully unique performances, where they have worked hard, using their past experience to develop a completely individual and unique set list.
France has gained extensive experience performing as a lead singer in various function bands playing at weddings, corporate functions and festivals including: John Lewis, Tonbridge Castle Festival, Lounge on the Farm in Canterbury, The Barfly and the Hammersmith Palais in London. Her biggest influences are Edith Piaf, Vanessa Paradis, Serge Gainsbourg and Jacques Brel.
Guitarist Paul has developed a well-respected reputation in the area, having performed as Soho Jazz Festival, Pizza Express Dean Street, guitar festivals and arts centres including Euro Wirral International Guitar Festival and Bath International Guitar Festival.
Paul’s performances are highly virtuosic, imaginative and expressive. Combined with France’s natural and humorous rapport with the audience, this gives the duo not only an edge but also a great friendly stage presence.
" Expressive, fluent, varied and thoughtful – this is nice stuff! "
John Etheridge
" Very few guitarists can hold the attention for a whole set when playing as a sole instrument, yet Paul can match Martin Taylor for that knack of “plate spinning”, keeping bass line, chords, melody and improvisation all in mid-air without ever dropping anything. A delight to listen to with great choice of unusual material and an even greater pleasure to play with. "

" Think you’re brilliant. Always have. "
