Gypsy Band Belgium
This Belgium-based gypsy band performs original compositions alongside traditional music from Eastern Europe, including Hungary, Romania, the Balkans, and Russia. Their repertoire features evergreens, operetta melodies, light classical music, Viennese music, Jewish melodies (klezmer), as well as "hot club" gypsy music, just like that of Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli.
Two musicians hail from Hungary, one from Romania, and the fourth from Belgium. They perform with the virtuosity for which gypsy musicians are internationally renowned.
What sets this group apart is their sophisticated musical approach and their ability to deliver a show that captivates the audience from start to finish.
The band's main lineup consists of:
Pal (Hungary), violin
Iulian (Romania), accordion
Ernest (Hungary), cimbalom and guitar
Herman De Rycke (Belgium), double-bass
Currently, the four-piece band is touring with Bulgarian gypsy singer and violinist Emilia. Emilia performs traditional gypsy music as well as her own compositions. She also incorporates scatting into gypsy music while playing the violin, creating a unique sound. The band and Emilia together on stage deliver a dynamic performance where instrumental and vocal music continually blend. Their show is a captivating experience that constantly offers something fresh and exciting.
