Lily String Quartet

Lily String Quartet is a dynamic chamber ensemble dedicated to excellence. This Canadian quartet, established in 2005, has gained recognition from both audiences and critics as a leading group in Western Canada. The bilingual quartet consists of Elisa, Diane, Patricia, and Andrea, who each hold prestigious positions among Canadian chamber musicians.

Drawing from experiences across Alberta’s prairies, the vibrant life of Calgary, and the charm of Québec City, these women create a unified and captivating sound. With individual training from North America’s top universities and conservatories, the members of String Quartet Canada bring a deep wealth of knowledge and expertise to their performances.

The String Quartet performs regularly in Calgary and beyond. During the 2013/14 season, they held a recital for The Instrumental Society of Calgary, collaborated with pianists, bassists, and harpists, and performed concerts in Alberta and BC. Their past performances include appearances at CBC, the Sled Island Festival, Lake Louise’s “Ice Magic” Festival, The Banff Centre, One Yellow Rabbit Theatre’s High Performance Rodeo, and New Works Calgary.

Collaboration is at the core of their work. The quartet has performed with a jazz trio, various Calgary-area choirs, educational music programs, schools, Indie-rock groups, folk artists, and an accordion player, among others.

They have attended seminars at Juilliard School and Stanford University, and collaborated on an original musical with folk artist Lullaby Baxter. The group toured Alberta with the Hutchinson Andrew Trio in spring 2013, Eastern Canada in fall 2012, and Western Canada in 2008. String Quartet Canada has performed in concert and at educational outreach programs in seven out of ten Canadian provinces.
