Maggie Alphonsi MBE
Former female rugby player Maggie Alphonsi, MBE has represented England 74 times, scored 28 tries and helped England win a record-breaking seven consecutive Six Nations crowns throughout her illustrious career. As a crucial member of the 2014 team that won the Rugby World Cup for the first time in 20 years, she is considered to be an expert in her field.
Following her 2014 retirement, Maggie has become a prolific sports presenter, commentating on live rugby matches across many networks including SKY Sports, BT Sport and the BBC. As the first former female player to commentate on international men's rugby when she signed with ITV in 2015 for the Rugby World Cup, she has since become a familiar face on ITV Sport across their rugby coverage
Maggie made history in 2016 by becoming the first England Women’s player to become a National Member of the Rugby Football Union’s Council. Playing a leading role in the Diversity & Inclusion Steering Group, Maggie is one of only six women on the 56-strong council and draws on her experience playing rugby professionally.
