Morris Dancers Wales is one of the earliest 1970's revival groups. Formed in early 1970 by a small, enthusiastic group of experienced dancers who moved from other Morris sides around the country, along with local recruits passionate about folk dance and song, they have been performing Morris dances in South Wales for over forty years.

Their dances generally derive from the Cotswold traditions, though audiences may also see them perform their unique dance tradition from the village of Nantgarw, just north of Cardiff.

This tradition is notable for being an eight-person dance, rather than the Cotswold style which typically features six dancers. The Welsh dragon and Cardiff Coat of Arms highlight the local connection on the group’s Welsh-weave "baldricks" or cross-sashes, and they are often accompanied by Idris, their very own dancing dragon!

In summer, Morris Dancers Wales can be seen in Cardiff and around South Wales at festivals and fairs, or touring various locations in the County of Glamorgan.

They also make several weekend visits to Morris sides in various parts of Britain and play a significant role in organizing the biennial "All Wales" Morris weekend in mid-Wales.

It is often said that the origins of Morris Dancing are lost in the past and wrapped in mystery. What we see today are the remnants of an ancient English tradition, truly celebrated and embraced by Morris Dancers Wales.
