Comedian Patrick Kielty
Hailing from Northern Ireland, Patrick Kielty is a well-known and widely respected comedian and TV personality.
Patrick started honing his comedy skills during his school years, entertaining classmates and teachers with his impressions of celebrities, athletes, and politicians. He made a name for himself in the local Belfast stand-up scene while still in college and broke into television in 1993 when he was chosen to host SUS on UTV.
Patrick’s career continued to soar, landing him appearances on Northern Irish TV, which led to roles on UK-wide shows like Last Chance Lottery and Patrick Kielty Almost Live. Over the years, he’s balanced his TV gigs with stand-up tours and radio hosting jobs, filling in for personalities like Alan Carr, Simon Mayo, and Steve Wright.
In 2006, Patrick returned to stand-up with another UK tour, and by 2007, he was working at the Trafalgar Theatre in London’s West End on the UK production of A Night In November, written by Northern Irish playwright Marie Jones. He premiered the play at the Grand Opera House in Belfast.
Patrick stays busy with his TV and radio commitments. In 2012, he co-hosted This Morning alongside Kate Thornton and Emma Willis. During 2014 and 2015, he guest-hosted several episodes of The One Show with regular host Alex Jones. In January 2015, US Country Star Garth Brooks gave his first UK interview to Patrick for a BBC Radio 2 Special in Boston, Massachusetts.
The County Down comedian combines his love for sports and passion for charity by playing goalkeeper for the Rest of the World team in the biennial Soccer Aid event. Patrick has also frequently appeared in Comic Relief sketches, supporting various charities. Most recently, in March 2015, he participated in a skit after the British boy band One Direction tweeted a clip announcing who would portray them in a 'No Direction' tribute for Red Nose Day!
Patrick married fellow celebrity and presenter Cat Deeley in September 2012 after a whirlwind romance, although the two had been close friends since working together on Fame Academy.
Patrick is a regular host on The One Show and has recently headlined BBC shows ‘Delete, Delete, Delete’ and ‘Debateable.’
As an Awards Host, Patrick is exceptional and is often invited back by clients. He’s earned rave reviews for his lively and dynamic hosting of various events, including The Evening Standard New Homes Awards and the Structural Steel Design Awards.
