Harp Orchestra Como
Harp Orchestra Como was founded in 2002 by one of the most renowned modern harpists worldwide and is now considered the largest Celtic harp orchestra in Europe.
The Harp Orchestra is a musical ensemble primarily made up of lever harps, or Celtic harps, along with other instruments such as cello, violin, flute, accordion, guitar, bass, drums, soprano voice, and choir. The musicians form a unique and harmonious group, ranging in age from 17 to 60 years old. In total, the group includes 16 harpists, 12 of whom are women.
In their humble beginnings, the Orchestra’s repertoire was initially composed of ancient melodies and traditional Irish music, but it now covers an extensive and diverse range of music. Unique techniques and a mix of Celtic, Classical, and South American genres give the orchestra’s music a rich array of new colors. Original compositions, Ancient Music, Flamenco, and Celtic, Ethnic tunes are all rearranged to appeal to modern listeners in an entertaining and captivating way.
The Celtic Harp Orchestra has performed many concerts in Italy, including at the Duomo Cathedral of Milan and Teatro Sociale of Como, as well as internationally in Spain, Switzerland, France, Ireland, Greece, Germany, Britain, China, Japan, and Korea.
