Victorian Punch And Judy Show
Our classic Victorian Punch and Judy Show is a timeless type of old-fashioned entertainment first enjoyed by British vacationers at seaside resorts in the 1800s. From Victorian streets to turn-of-the-century beaches, this fantastic Punch and Judy show brings back that charming, family-friendly performance that has delighted children for generations.
The Victorian Punch and Judy Show uses authentic antique Victorian puppets and theaters originally used to entertain children along the east coast beaches from 1890 to 1940. The traditional puppets were hand-carved in the late 1800s.
The largest theater available stands 9 feet tall, and the proscenium (front part) was made and painted by Roseila, one of the greatest Victorian showmen. A second, smaller theater was made by Punch and Judy icon Quisto and was previously owned by legendary Punch and Judy entertainer Percy Press, who used it throughout his career.
No other current Punch and Judy show is performed in this way, using genuine antique artifacts, making this one of the only shows of its kind in the world.
Our Traditional Punch and Judy Show is available for hire for special events, themed days, schools, period occasions, Victorian-themed events, seaside resorts, and much more. It has been showcased at the V&A Museum, Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood, Sotheby's, and on BBC Television
