Victorian Punch And Judy Show
Our traditional Victorian Punch and Judy Show is a quintessential type of old fashioned entertainment first enjoyed by British holiday makers at seaside resorts in the 1800s. From the Victorian streets to the turn of the century seaside, this superb Punch and Judy show brings back that charming family-friendly performance that has continuously amazed children for decades upon decades.
The Victorian Punch and Judy Show uses genuine antique Victorian puppets and theatres that were originally used to entertain children along the beaches of the east coast from 1890 to 1940. The traditional puppets were hand carved back in the late 1800s.
The biggest of the theatres available is 9feet tall and the proscenium (front part) was made and painted by Roseila, one of the greatest Victorian show men. A second, smaller theatre available was made by Punch and Judy icon Quisto and previously owned by legendary Punch and Judy entertainer Percy Press and was used through out his career.
No other current Punch and Judy show is performed in this way using genuine antique artefacts making this one of the only showsof it’s kind in the world.
Our Traditional Punch and Judy Show is available to hire for special events, themed days, schools, period occasions, Victorian themed events, seaside resorts and much more. It has been seen at the V&A Museum, Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood, Sotheby's and on BBC Television
