Peter is considered Sweden’s top traditional player of the modern chromatic nyckelharpa, having won the World Champion title twice. He earned the Zorn silver medal and the designation Riksspelman - Fiddler of the Realm - as a teenager (1975), and in 2010, he received Sweden’s most prestigious award for excellence in folk music, the Zorn Gold Medal.

Peter and his nyckelharpa are an impressive sight when creating music. Pure magic. His music beautifully connects the past, present, and future.

Peter's technique is unmatched. His incredibly precise playing is characterized by deep murmuring tones and liquid cascades of ornaments and flourishes, giving the uncanny impression that multiple musicians are playing at once.

Justly proud of his place in Swedish traditional music, Peter is gradually expanding the horizons of nyckelharpa expression. Staying true to tradition, he also creates new tunes, which are quickly becoming popular among today’s nyckelharpa players. Neglected and almost forgotten by the 1940s and 50s, the modern chromatic nyckelharpa is now flourishing like never before in Sweden and beyond, especially in the USA and Japan.
