All female Jazz Band

This act is Singapore’s newest and most exciting all-female modern jazz ensemble, showcasing an eclectic mix of musical minds and artistic visions. As they find their unique sound, the group is inspired by the provocative, progressive, and outspoken nature of its members.

Comprising Sharon, Wendy, Yap Shu Mei, Melissa, & Audrey, these five musicians were initially brought together for the Singapore Wine & Jazz Festival 2010 at Fraser’s Robertson Walk. After a few rehearsals, it became clear that a musical chemistry had blossomed and was taking shape.

Jazz enthusiasts, veteran musicians, and casual listeners alike gave a resounding stamp of approval to the group's playful, inventive, and organic debut performance on July 2, 2010.

Soon after, on July 27, 2010, they were interviewed on Channel News Asia’s Prime Time Morning, where they performed an original piece, “In-You-It.”

August 26, 2011, marked a significant milestone for the band as they performed their debut ticketed event to a sold-out audience at the Esplanade Recital Studio. “D.U.I. -- Dreaming under The Influence” featured original material and covers seamlessly woven together in a 5-part improvised suite. Both the dynamic music and evocative multimedia visuals transported the captivated audience into a shared dream-state.

Beyond the obvious all-female marketing trait, it is the diverse musical and life journeys of each member that synergize a revitalized sound and approach to jazz, extending it beyond traditional and standard offerings in the market.
