Elegant String Quartet Sicily
This classical string quartet, founded in 1990, includes all members of the string family (violin, viola, cello, and double bass) and consists of musicians who trained at the Conservatory of Music "V. Bellini" in Palermo.
The group stands out for its stylistic and interpretive flexibility, making it unique. It has the ability to tackle familiar and diverse musical genres (classical, contemporary, light jazz standards, and music from movies).
The ensemble has a particular interest in twentieth-century composers such as A. Piazzolla, K. Jenkins, R. Sakamoto, E. Morricone, F. Lai, and B. Bacharach. They also favor "light music" authors like A.C. Jobim, J. Lennon, S. Wonder, and C. Baglioni to attract a broad audience.
In November 2000, the ensemble supported harpist and violinist Julia Cunningham Rrok Jakaj on her Canada tour, performing in prestigious theaters such as the "Phillip T. Young Recital Hall" at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Victoria, and the Theatre of Nelson.
