Known for her skillful ability to crossover Funk, Disco, Soul, Breakbeats and House music this internationally-acclaimed female DJ from Tokyo, has worked with many international artists and even impressed Grammy-winning artist, Questlove of The Roots, who she recently supported on tour.
Having released a total of 16 compilations and mixes, DJ Tokyo has performed in Japan, the US, Canada, Australia, Dubai, China, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Germany, and India. With her broad crossover selection and dedication as a turntablist DJ, she can please any music crowd. Whether it be an audience over 5,000 people at Chingay Parade (Singapore’s largest street fair), or at a fancy and low-key venue such as Blue Note New York, where she performed at the Hurricane Sandy relief show in 2012, her ability to cater to her surroundings at anytime has made her one of Japan’s most popular international DJs.
Known for her Hip Hop parties in Japan, where she dresses up in outrageously clever costumes, this female DJ helps to teach the history of Hip Hop to Japanese people by incorporating break dancing, the b-girl/b-boy culture, aerosol art, and collaborates with other DJs spinning old school Hip Hop tracks.
A top choice for promoters, DJ Tokyo is regularly booked as an opening act for overseas artists that tour Japan. She has performed alongside Questlove, DJ Premier, Pete Philly & Perquisite, Pete Rock, Steph Pockets, Group Home, Bow Wow, DJ Muro, Large Professor, DJ Krush, C.L. Smooth, The Roots, DJ Evil Dee, Funky DL, Percee P, Lupe Fiasco and many more.
A well known fashion icon and trendsetter, DJ Tokyo is also the founder of a street wear and accessories brand in Japan that has received world recognition. A multi talented artist, DJ Tokyo is also affiliated with the high-end fashion scene in Japan and was the host DJ for "Vogue Fashion Night Out." She has hosted a variety of fashion industry parties and brand launches with major clients including Louis Vuitton and Ralph Lauren.
