Stilt Walking Percussionists
This international street theatre group was established in 1991 and combines various disciplines of performing arts including dance, music and circus, with stunning visual representations. Their spectacular performances have a narrative character and are best described as magical and hypnotic. This atmosphere is supported by the representation of almost mythical characters, somewhat recognisable by their archetypal appearance and enlarged costumes. The style of play is interactive, surprising and straight: the performers on stilts move among the audience that is immersed in the world of the performance.
The company has been invited by numerous renowned international festivals to perform as opening or final act. All of their productions have one thing in common; Visually strong street theatre without the limitation of age, language or even cultural boundaries.
Stilt Walking Percussionists:
A choreographic drumming force as Mohawks split the air in silence.
An impetuous platoon of black characters moves synchronously through the streets. The percussionists on stilts express themselves in a curious combination of strict discipline and frantic behaviour. Whispering drums or loud beats: they play their drums impassioned while the sounds balance high in the air.
Clearly in a mysterious language their powerful voices run: let it be heard! It is like a call of expressive freedom within their collective, a paradoxical paradise; the ultimate aim of these daring rebels.
A fantastic entertainment option for street festivals, carnivals or corporate entertainment.
