FAQs

Describe your virtual class

Classes come with different size and duration options according to what you decide to bake.

Cozy Cooking

This class is ideal for a maximum of 20 enthusiastic bakers who are eager to learn. The class is highly interactive, both verbally and v a chat function. Guests can get individual attention, and the emphasis is on learning the baking techniques used in the tutorial. It can run for 60-75 minutes or one-and-a-half to two hours.

The Big Bake

Ideal for groups of 20-100 where guests want to bake along or tune in. Interaction is mainly via the chat function, and the instructor offers info and tips to keep the class flowing. These sessions run for 60-75 minutes or one-and-a-half to two hours.

Live Demo

This class works best for groups who cannot bake along or for bigger classes numbering over 100. There will be a limited amount of Q&A via the chat as this class is a demonstration. The chef will share techniques and advice while some elements may be prepared before for 'show and tell'. These workshops can last from 60 to 90 minutes.

Can your show be customised for clients?

Sometimes, with at least one month's notice. It helps to know the client's event priorities; is it the recipe or the duration; employees having fun together or learning a new skill? Some recipes require a lot of time, for example decorating cookies or baking bread. If the class is inexperienced, some parts may take longer to grasp than others. Participants must have fun and feel like they have accomplished something. The more 'wow' factor the bake, the higher the likelihood that it needs to be and demo, not bake-a-long.

Do you offer both pre-recorded and live-streamed shows?

Our baker loves the energy and fun of a live show,  but she can offer pre-recorded content with about one month's notice. For the pre-recorded events, it's very important to know if a client wants a session that feels like a one-take show paced so that participants can bake along. The other option is for it to be like a tv show, where elements are sped up. This impacts the recipes that can be created in a given timeframe and can't be undone once shooting occurs.

Where is your show set up?

The show takes place in our baking kitchen; the setup will be moving to a demo stage located in a new teaching kitchen soon.

How many cameras do you use in your virtual show and what is the quality?

A single-camera shoot facing instructor with a good view of workspace, and typically use a laptop, wireless mic. plus umbrella lighting.

What levels of interaction are there with live audiences?

Interaction depends on audience numbers; there is an on-screen instructor plus a sidekick who responds to guests via the chat function.

What platforms do you use?

Our virtual baker has used Zoom and Google Meets.

Do you have a technician that helps with the set up of your virtual show?

Our booking always includes a sidekick facilitator to be available to participants on chat, liaise with the client during the show, and offer technical help as needed.

Do guests need anything to be able to participate?

Anyone baking along with the program should have access to essential tools (measuring cups & spoons, bowls, whisk, spatula, knife, baking pans). If special tools are needed, it will be indicated (ie: mixer, rolling pin). Guests receive a PDF of recipes, tips and, if applicable, a shopping list.

Are you happy to have a technical call or rehearsal session with the client in advance of the show?

With enough notice, our baker is happy to arrange a technical call.
